Exploring One of the Most Ecstatic Personalities in the Cosplaying Industry
The modelling and cosplaying industry was- unsurprisingly, significantly impacted by the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.
This negative effect saw a significant decrease in the industry’s total revenues within the 2020 fiscal year (due to the resulting dip in total advertising and commercial revenues) which unequivocally limited demand for the industry’s most popular services.
With the end of the pandemic being well on its way, the revenue decreases and economic slowdowns that were seen in 2020 have started to diminish, with the average industry growth between 2016 and 2021 being roughly 3.0% as of 2021.
With a market cap that exceeds USD $2 billion, the industry undoubtedly provides a plethora of services and offers dealings in a variety of different establishments and online platforms. These include model bookings by corporations, PR firms, photographers, fashion designers, and cosplayers.
The proliferation of social media has seen a significant number of individuals choosing to model online- amassing considerable followings and revenues, particularly in the sphere of cosplaying.
Cosplaying generally involves voluntarily crafting (or buying) a high quality costume of a popular character from: an anime, TV show, movie, or video game, and wearing it so as to closely replicate that character’s unique specificities and powerful personality.
Elizabeth Rage- a prominent model, cosplayer, and social media influencer with significant experience in theatrical performances, has quickly become one of the biggest names in the cosplaying bracket.
Being characterised as the ‘’Problematic Waifu’’ of the industry, her eye-catching cosplaying has seen her amass hundreds of thousands of fans from all over the globe.
Rise to Fame: From a Hobby to A Full Time Career?
Believe it or not, despite her unparalleled expertise in the field, cosplaying used to be a mere hobby for Elizabeth Rage.
Growing up with an inherent affinity towards entrepreneurship and stage performance, Elizabeth studied in both: the Manhattan School of Music and in the New York University (NYU). During her time as an undergraduate, she tailor made a plethora of theatre-related performances with her friends (usually funding and creating the costumes entirely by herself.
She was also part of a very successful channel on Youtube that (unfortunately) has now been deleted. It released the at-the-time viral hit, titled ‘’Hipster Disney Princesses’’ that accumulated millions of views.
Around 2015, Elizabeth Rage stumbled upon a cosplaying tutorial online, and it dawned on her that this was actually something that individuals could do as a full time job.
‘’I had never considered that as a possibility….When I think about it nowadays I tend to laugh; my hobbies [music and theatrical performance) and job [cosplaying] seem to have completed reversed in comparison to five or six years ago’’- Elizabeth Rage, Social Media Influencer and Model.
Her first actual ‘performance’ as a cosplayer occurred in the 2015 Wondercon. She humorously dressed up as the Ancient Greek king of the underworld and god of the dead, Hades.
According to Elizabeth, the costume was a massive hit right away. Random attendees quickly transformed into loyal followers, and the initiation of her astounding cosplaying career officially began.
OnlyFans and the Future
Elizabeth Rage launched her OnlyFans account following her mellifluous success in her other social media platforms. Unsurprisingly, she was the recipient of a very high degree of attention right away.
OnlyFans allows subscribers to be privy to unique, mouth-watering, and exclusive content and- perhaps most importantly, has facilitated a small yet robust community of the model’s most loyal followers who have chosen to use it as a way of communicating with Elizabeth on a regular basis.
Ordinarily, regular liaising with the model directly would be extremely difficult, as the chance of her missing a direct message on a platform with over 400,000 followers is- albeit inadvertent, quite high.
‘’In the long term, I can see myself segueing back into theatre, or better yet using my voice as a prolific social media influencer to discuss a plethora of the serious societal issues that I am passionate about’’- says Elizabeth.
Final Words: Other Notable Achievements
Aside from the already mentioned professional and academic achievements, Elizabeth Rage has also founded her very own Social Media Company (Problematic Waifu), and has spent the last year travelling abroad for featured Cosplay Guest appearances in Mexico, Europe and the Middle East.
Most recently, Elizabeth Rage debuted as the Official Cosplay Model of “Nemesis” for Hotta Studio’s new game “Tower of Fantasy” at Anime Expo 2022.
By the end of 2022, Elizabeth will additionally have released her first ever EP featuring music from her favourite games and anime, as well as original songs by Rage herself.
